Bentley

Fun fact about Bentley: Back in the 1940’s, it was called Bentley Park and the locals called it Bentley Hill. It became known as just Bentley in 1967. Today it’s home to Curtin University, Canning College, Technology Park and West — making it safe to call Bentley an education centre. This has led to its popularity with students as well as the many people employed by the various learning institutions.

The homes in the area are mainly rental properties and the younger crowd, in particular, like to call it home. Duplexes, villas and townhouses make up the bulk of accommodation, followed by plenty of larger homes. These varied options are good for families as well as students sharing the costs of living. The suburb is a melting pot of cultures, with residents hailing from all parts of the world including Malaysia, China and the UK. As a result, there
are all sorts of tasty restaurants dotted around the different neighbourhoods. Bentley Plaza offers even more dining options as well as supermarkets, specialty stores and fresh food grocers.

A tidy eight kilometres from Perth CBD, this established suburb also houses a large retirement complex and Vose Seminary. Students come from all over Perth to attend Curtin University, as well as the other learning institutions in the area, which means there are plenty of buses. Although the suburb itself houses only a small percentage of young
families, there are several primary and secondary schools in Bentley and more in the neighbouring suburbs. There’s also a health centre and hospital. Bentley pretty much has all the basics covered!
