KEWDALE

Ranked as one of Perth’s 10 cheapest suburbs within 10 kilometres of the CBD, Kewdale is one of Perth’s largest industrial areas. With a workforce of labourers, machinery operators and drivers, the suburb is close to work for many. It’s perfect for these families, as well as those with young kids, and offers a hassle-free lifestyle. The vast majority of properties in the area are houses although there are a few townhouses and duplexes popping up. These established homes, on decent-sized blocks, are generally owned by long-term residents of the area. It’s an affordable, family-based suburb with all the perks of the city CBD just 8 kilometres away.

Kewdale is also the home of one of Perth’s greatest parks, Tomato Lake. This picturesque park houses a wetland and lake, full of birdlife (ducks, ibis and swans all call it home). Take it all in with a stroll around the walking trail and boardwalk, or bring a picnic and just enjoy the view. There are also basketball courts, a kid’s playground, BBQs and café. You’ll never see it empty but there is plenty of room to find your own quiet space. Or get some exercise, try birdwatching, let the kids wear themselves out — having this in your backyard gives you so many options. In the Belmont government area, Kewdale benefits from the many great services offered by neighbouring suburbs Rivervale, Cloverdale and Burswood. There are plenty of schools in the area, as well as a regular bus service. Access to Leach, Roe and Tonkin Highways is within an easy distance too.
